>>>>Rockin' Riders Advocate For Grants To Increase Bicycle Safety VCcool Article

RESPONSE To Article BLOG:  LADIES & GENTLEMEN: Our bicycle club is an advocate for the article and efforts going forth by Rachel. It seems that many in the general public that blogged this article were seemingly harsh with some of their words against Rachel & the "cause". I happen to know what's happening with VCool, HUB, Director & bicycle activist, Rachel Morris, and the non-profit members. The behind the scenes benefits & efforts are greatly appreciated by many of us in the bicycle community. Could it be that the harsh words, negative comments, and ill opinions, came as a result of some of these bloggers really being uneducated, uninformed, and uninterested in the purpose & mission behind this article? I believe so...    In the end... the advocacy will win. And they'll take that to the bank. The bicycle wins. Rachel will get the grants. And that's a fact. Time is on her side. Go Rachel Go... You are loved for what you do for this community. Just ignore the naysayers... it works better that way. God bless your cause. See you on the next Rockin' Ride! SP, member of the Rocki' Riders

GET READY FOR OUR SPECIAL EVENT RIDE

The Ojai Arts in the Park Ride

THE OJAI SATURDAY ARTS IN THE PARK RIDE 5/26: Our ride leaves 10:00 am From the WAV. This ride is 29 miles round trip. Whether an artist or an art lover, plan ahead and take part in an Ojai tradition: Art in the Park, Fine art in a fine place with the Rockin' Riders Bicycle Club. We will check tires and bike condition before we start this ride. The ride is for intermediate & advance riders due to distance. Average speed will be 10 mph to 12 mph. The ride will last all day till 5:00 pm. Take sunscreen, cash, plenty of water, flat repair kit, first aid kit, and some snacks. (You may want to have your bike checked out in advance to avoid trouble). Departure is promptly from the WAV (Working Artists Ventura). Text or e-mail in advance if you will be joining us!

The event is an annual tradition started in 1977 by local artists at the Ojai Art Center to give fine artists a place to show their work during the Memorial Day weekend. We will be nestled amongst the oaks in beautiful Libbey Park (Ojai, California), a natural setting is created to showcase the rich mixture of works in a variety of mediums. Art in the Park has enjoyed a long tradition of displaying quality art. Presented by the Ojai Art Center, the oldest non-profit art center in California, the festival attracts artists from near and far. This is a  relaxed atmosphere. Things to see include:

Music Performing Arts – Take a break from the art exhibits and relax under the oaks while listening to some of the best musicians in the area.

Food Court Gourmet Lounge – Take in the local flavor by tasting some fun and fancy culinary treats.

Young Patrons Gallery – Devoted exclusively to children, this tented gallery features artwork donated by local artists. Docents help children experience the thrill of selecting their first piece of art in a gallery-like setting.

High School Student Exhibition Area – Art in the Park provides high school art students the opportunity to interact with the public and sell their art pieces. Students gain great real-life experience creating their displays, marketing their works and making what is often their first (of many!) sale.

Youth Art Workshops – Hands on workshops taught by local artists help children learn special techniques. A variety of mediums are represented and can include: acrylic, pastel, watercolor, glass, wood and ceramics. It’s magical to see young faces as they create their own works of art.

Art Demonstrations for Adults – Workshops are not offered only for children, adults also take advantage of learning from the best. Whether novice or professional, the art demonstrations have encouraged and embellished many artists’ style.
